Oracle updating chunks big table
How can you stop the process without, um, well, stopping it? How can you communicate with the running process in another session?
Would it be possible to rewrite them the way to minimize number of calls ?
Question : What is the best/quickest way to do this given the fact that I get a short downtime to do this maintenance.

Since you can't list more than one table in the Oracle UPDATE statement, you can use the Oracle EXISTS clause.
